Welcome to Afrilas
Afrilas is an end-to-end authentication solution designed to avoid the need to store or remember user credentials. It is geared towards security and user experience.
It relies on SAML 2.0, which is an open standard that allows identity providers (IdP) to pass authorization credentials to application service providers (SP).
As an IdP, Afrilas provides strong authentication based on public key cryptography - a technology developed by nextAuth - instead of one-time passwords, which are based on symmetrical encryption.
From a user perspective, the experience consists in installing an app and scanning a QR code or confirming a push notification to log in. The app itself can be protected by the user's fingerprint, Face ID or a personal identification number (PIN).
The difference with many other solutions is that users no longer need to keep track of credentials for separate applications or use a password manager.
As the world is getting more and more connected, the endless supply of apps, services and websites requiring a username and password inevitably leads to password fatigue.
With Afrilas, secured systems can simply be accessed by scanning a QR code with a single app, without having to provide an initial username or id.
